Tasker Android App

I've been playing around with the app Tasker. I made up two motorcycle specific profiles that should help me out when riding.

The first is tied to my bluetooth headset. When the phone detects the bluetooth connection it raises the volume to max and then launches Pandora and Bubbler GPS. This should save me some time compared to trying to do all of this manually with gloves on.

The second profile watches for an incoming text message. When it detects the text, it gives me a voice prompt over my headset and then replies to the person who sent the text with a short message that includes a link to my location (courtesy of Bubbler/Spotwalla), speed, and battery level.

Thanks to Nightsong on Advrider for the idea for the sms reply profile.

New Dual Sport

I picked up a 2010 Husaberg FE390 from a buddy. It will hopefully fill the gap between the Gas Gas woods weapon and the big 950. I'm thinking it will be the bike I use on dual sport rides where I ride from the house. It will also be the bike I take out west to ride in the Rockies since it has fuel injection.

Look for this bike in an upcoming video.

GoPro Hero4 Session

I need to make a mockup of one of these.

If it fits my dual sport helmet better than my Hero3 I may have to get one. Dimensions are 1.5"x1.5"x1.5". Specs should be similar to a Hero4 Silver (minus 4k).

Durty Dabbers National Dual Sport

I finally got to ride the Durty Dabbers dual sport. I'd been wanting to make it to this one for years. We had a great RCR group there with a mix of newbies and veterans of the event. My overall experience with the event was great. Despite a downpour shortly after arriving at the campground, the weather the rest of the weekend was awesome. The food available was great. The routes were well marked and laid out. The roads and trails were challenging! I left feeling very beat up but it was very very fun. I hope to do this one again next year!

The routes cover some ground:

I may need a mid-sized dual sport

I got talked into taking the 950 off-road again when I probably should have taken the small bike. This time didn't go as well as last, I slid the bike into a nasty mucky mud hole and there was no way I was getting it out by myself. Luckily it was a busy weekend and within 5 minutes we were able to get a truck to winch me out. Next weekend I'm definitely riding the small bike. It needs a shakedown before I do the Durty Dabbers dual sport in a few weeks.

Here's the video proof of my bad judgement (or bad luck?) in action.

Taking the big 950 onto the trails

I got talked into taking my 950 out on a little dual sport ride that was a bit more off-road than I usually do on the Adventure. I'd like to ride this stuff again on the Gas Gas sometime.

Laurel Fork Bound

I've been prepping the 950 for another ride down to WV. I hosted a "garage day" and some of my riding buddies came out and helped me with a valve check, coolant flush, carb sync, oil change and a new Seat Concepts foam and cover install.

I did a few short shakedown rides and she should be good to go. I also finally got around to editing the video from the last trip down:

I haven't been posting much as it's been a long cold winter here in Pa. It's starting to warm up now so hopefully the riding season has begun!
