New Dual Sport Mount

That didn't take long! I've now accomplished the first of my goals for 2012, getting a new bike. I picked up this nearly mint 2003 Gas Gas EC 250 from a fellow RCR member yesterday. It's been very well cared for, is already dual-sported and has a few trick parts on it as well.

While I wait for the weather to improve a bit I'm going to add some armor (skid plate, radiator brace/guard). I'm also planning on a Rekluse auto clutch, but I want to get a few rides in on it in current trim first just to get a feel for it.

This will be my bike for single track or those dual sport rides that are mostly off-road. The DRZ is now freed up to be more of an adventure bike and will still see it's fair share of use this season.

Goals for 2012

Since the weather is preventing me from getting out on the bike this weekend, I've been thinking of what I'd like to accomplish this year. Here is a list of my goals for 2012:
  • More camping trips (already have a few in the works)
  • More riding outside of Pa
  • Work on my off-road riding skills
  • Look for a new bike (keeping the DRZ, want to add either a lighter single-track bike or a larger adventure tourer)
  • Get in at least one "epic" ride this summer

GoPro WiFi Backpack

This GoPro add-on give the capability to stream video to a smartphone or tablet and the bluetooth capabilities look like a useful addition for vlogging. I think I'd have to see it in action before I could say if it would be useful to me or not.

Something a Little Different

It's a muddy mess around here right now, so when I joined some of the RCR guys for a little trail ride on some local trails I brought out my Wolverine 350 instead of the DRZ with a trials rear. I'm still learning how to ride an ATV, and had one interesting moment on a hill climb (luckily I had the GoPro going). I also got to ride my buddy's new Husky cross county. It's a very sweet bike. Gobs of power and so much lighter feeling than my DRZ.
